A ready-made lesson on short-video feeds, for any school.
A 40-minute student session, a parent talk and a teacher handbook. Narrated videos do the talking, so any teacher can run it, without an expert in the room. Free for every school, anywhere.
How it works
- Download the kit
- Slides with notes for the teacher, narrated videos, a handbook and the parent materials. No sign-up. Once downloaded, no internet is needed in the classroom.
- Play the video, pause for the activities
- The video explains each slide. The teacher pauses where the handbook says, and runs a short activity or discussion with the class.
- Run the parent talk
- The same way, with its own narrated video, at a parents' meeting. Parents take home a short guide.
- Tell us how it went
- What worked, what didn't, what your students asked. Every school's feedback improves the next version.
What is in the kit
- Student session, ages 10–13
- 40 minutes. How endless feeds keep us watching, and a few habits to try, with more activities and simpler language.
- Student session, ages 14–18
- 40 minutes. How recommendation feeds work, what research finds about attention and sleep, and what it can't show. Students discuss a made-up student, never themselves.
- Teacher handbook
- What to say on each slide, how to run each activity, answers to hard questions, and what to do if a student is upset: follow your school's own safeguarding process.
- Parent talk
- About 20 minutes plus questions, for a parents' meeting: what research finds, what it can't show, and practical steps for families.
- Parent guide
- A take-home guide: setting limits without constant arguments, a sample family phone agreement, and settings that help on Android and iPhone.
Coming later: a printable student workbook, a seven-day habit challenge, a classroom poster and a voluntary pledge.
Register your school
Registering is optional and free: the kit stays open to every school. Registered schools hear first when the kit changes, and later get a school area for downloads, reports and teacher certificates.
What the kit stands for
- Evidence, not fear. Every finding in the kit links to a study in our research library, with what that study can't show.
- No student data. Students never sign up anywhere; their reflections stay on paper, with them.
- Voluntary and never shaming. Nothing in the kit is used to rank, punish or single out a student.
- Reviewed before use. A qualified counsellor or child psychologist signs off every part.
- Practical. Students try skills, such as planning a phone-free study period, rather than only hearing warnings.
